If you have visited Kashmir and then gone on a vacation to Papikondalu, a hill range in Andhra Pradesh, you will observe that this place has a close resemblance to Kashmir in vista. Papikondalu was originally known as Papidi Kondalu. In Telugu, Papidi means partition as this range appears like a well planned partition that divides the River Godavari. To reach this place, you have to take a boat ride from Rajahmundry. The entire area of Papikondalu is covered by tropical rain forest and has been recently declared as a protected National Park. This tribal settlement has been drawing tourists to its peaceful atmosphere. At Munivaatam, besides the waterfalls, you will come across an idol of Lord Shiva under a serpant shade. It was Balananda Swamiji who in 1927 constructed the Sri Krishna Munivaatam. It is now handled by a tribal sect, konda Reddys, who perform pooja daily. There are two mountains named after the monkey kings of Ramayana called Vali and Sugreeva, just about 3 km away from Perantalapalli. You will have to stay in a Bamboo hut at Kolluru. You can also visit the Gandi Pochamma Temple and Peratalapalli Sivalayam. Do not miss going on a sightseeing spree when in Kolluru to Pamileru Vaagu in the forest.
